He could drop the cooler from X61 to a Phanteks air cooler if he wanted to save about $60 (pays for the extra ram)

That. But aircooler wise, I always stuck with noctua, they just have REALLY good stuff, especially when it comes to case fans.

Honestly ram brand doesn't matter all too much, but try to at least get one that is clocked at 1600mhz. If I had to choose a brand it'd be mushkin, I really like their blackline ram.

I'd get the 2x8 kit, and later i mean LATER down the road if need be you can get another 2x8 kit.

go 2x8GB if you can because its a tad faster and less stress on the memory controller

Yeah that will get you going for a nice build, and it will game nicely. Actually check out some of the gaming benchmarks with that card.

Nice build!
The case comes with just 2 fans. one is mounted on the top, one on the rear. take the one off to top and put it on the front as an intake, will help massively with airflow, until you buy more fans.

Oh and please take lots of pictures :3

I will probably get frustrated and just take it to Fry's. They build it in like an hour or two for $30 or so.
