Around my neighborhood, you need to be 18 or older to join a gym unless your parents sign you up. My Mother will not sign me up at all.

Since I have been sick for a looong time, I have gained some weight and i want to shed it off then lift weights and stuff like that.

I'm only 15 and my Mother always says, "I have to look for one." While i show her so many different places that i can join for FREE.

I'm working out during the day, and I'm going to go walking every morning starting in about a week, but I still want to join a gym.

How would I be able to convince her? I have no idea what is going on in her head.

Try & find one where they have an induction session in which you get taught how to use all the machinery safely in.

? The thing is, I have been taught that in school.
I just need to JOIN a gym now.

act really dramatic about you getting fat in grade 9/10 and everyone making fun of you. Also tell her that doing things outside of the gym isn't doing the job at nearly the rate you want.

Oh please, I have tried EVERYTHINGGGGG.

It's so irritating that she doesn't just do it already. I have been asking for so long.

I had this exact same problem. However every parent has their pressure point. The best approach is to bug her about it ALL the time. Like try bringing it up every meal and in every conversation you have with her. Eventually your needs will sink in, and chances are that she will give in.

if not, get someone over the age of 18 at your school to sign you up.

get really fat and contract diabeetes, then tell your mum THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!!

If you aren't going to post seriously, gtfo.

I have been trying that. Hopefully she will bring me before the F'n summer ends. I need to lose SOME weight before school starts in September.

Start getting really aggressive with everyone/everything. When she gets pissed say "I need to use my energy doing something, example: gym".

Just really push it and it will work no doubt

honestly, is a few kilos really that bad?, if you wear the right clothes, itll make you look stronger, and really how much weight do you think you can loose in a few weeks?

plus whats your age? your mum probably has good reason for not letting you go to the gym

I used to be like that all the time. Between the weightgain and me being sick, has drove me over the line of insanity. I'd scream through out my house when no one was home to feel better. I'd think about suicide. This shit's tough. I don't want bullshit replies from anyone else.

@"WetRain" Yeah, I'll put your advice into good use.
@"99hp" If you read my thread, you would see I'm 15. + The weight I have gained would make no one look good.

well, do you have any pets? maybe opting for a healthy, low glucose diet may help you loose your excess weight, or even walking the dog if you have one...

at 15, strenuous excersize like weight lifting and the like can cause muscle and bone deformities to your young, un-developed body. dont believe me? google it, thats why your gym has an age limit of 18 years and your mother opposing to a membership.

may i advise that you lift your own weight by doing push ups, jogging, sit ups, chin ups, planks, stretches and malcoms ( if you know any good ones)

thats my suggestion, and my help, if it was helpful, you could ive me some reputation points :)

I also said in my post that i want to lose weight, THEN work out with weights. I was leaning towards the idea of working on Cardio since i want to lose weight. (Treadmill, bikes, etc.)

I have a cat so i don't think working out with pets would be possible.

I can do about 10-14 pushups then i would get tired and have to rest for about 3-5 minutes. I can do sit ups, forgot about those. Thanks for the suggestions.

Just bitch to her about it all day, every day, and as soon as she wakes up.
If you are standing by her door and say "Mom let me sign up at the gym." for two weeks straight I'm sure she'll shit a fucking dumbbell set.
Do things that will piss her off, and don't take the blame for it.
Such as, throwing away half of a roll of toilet paper in her bathroom so that she runs out faster, unplug her monitor on her desktop if she uses one at home, untie her shoes when she isn't wearing them (if they have laces), etc.
Do things that are so small and irritating just to piss her off.
Don't try to argue with her if she entices an argument.

SOURCE: It worked for me.

Thanks for the suggestions. My Mother is the type that gets pissed off really easily. So i think that would make her so much more mad. I'll try it though. Gotta try everything. :p

All those muscle deformities happen because you're probably doing something wrong or your very young and doing weights while standing up. I heard if you do weights while sitting down its fine.. Don't know if its true though.

So is mine, you're definitely going to be hitting the gym if you do the little things that can continually piss a person off.

I guess I'll try my best at trying to piss her off. Worse part is, she is always in a bad mood.
Once again, thanks. ;p

Eat all the food in the house, and complain to your mom that she needs to help you.
