With so many rumors swirling around, Microsoft was more or less forced to come out and reveal some official Windows 8 sales figures, just to prove everyone that its new operating system isn’t at all a disappointing product.
Windows business head Tami Reller revealed during the Credit Suisse 2012 Annual Technology Conference that Microsoft had already managed to sell 40 million copies of Windows 8 and figures are expected to grow even bigger in the next few months.
“The journey is just beginning, but I am pleased to announce today that we have sold 40 million Windows 8 licenses so far,” Tami Reller said.
What’s more, the company has revealed a pretty interesting thing: Windows 8 is outpacing Windows 7 in terms of upgrades, Microsoft said without providing official stats on the number of upgrades.
