Why does Internet Explorer do this?

Idk if it's on all the sites i visit, but on RuneGear, if I get a new nudge, or new PM or w/e. I have to refresh my page to actually see the "New Pm" or the actual new Nudge... -- I use Internet Explorer. Why does it do this to me?
 
The real question is, WHY do you use internet explorer?

And yes it happens on other browsers.
 
I'm on school computer, I can't use anything else Lul XD
 
Maybe because you don't have an auto refresher.
