Yeah the live audiences were the best, things like Seinfeld, Will & Grace, Friends etc. (I think friends has a live audience, haven't watched it in a bit)
I'm not sure what you mean by the question. If its why do they add the laughter its because when you feel someone else experiencing an emotion your likely to experience it yourself. Some shows are over doing it with the laughing happening constantly.
Fake laughter does actually make a huge difference, If you watch some bloopers for TV shows and such they would show you it without the Fake laughter it looks and sounds dull
It is called a laugh track. Without it, the shows are not as funny. It is a real recording of people laughing but probably not to the section of the show that you are watching.
