I think you are still slightly confused.
"Beta" isn't the updated version of Runescape. The updated version is called the "Evolution of Combat - EoC" or even Runescape 3.
A beta test is a limited release of a product with a goal of finding bugs before the final release. Software testing is often referred to by the terms "alpha" and "beta."
So you see, there was no Grand Exchange in the beta (or testing phase) of EoC before it was released as it wasn't needed. But once EoC is released the Grand Exchange will be working just like before.
In conclusion:
RSWiki didn't trick you. You were simply just confused.
