Delphi is the way to go!
Simple and cross platform!
C languages are good, but are too complicated when the same thing can be done in Delphi in less than half the code

It takes time and effort. It is not going to happen in a day. Not even a month, or a year. You will never learn it all so it takes forever!

Java. But it seems there are hardly any fans of this language. Apart from Groola. VB used to be the best choice for me for creating GUI, until I met Netbeans that made life easy for me. It is now so easy to design GUI in Java. Apart from that, I love JS and HTML(including its variants). I never liked C++, maybe because of the pathetic Turbo C++ blue screen environment in which I learnt that language.
