What if...

Jagex tells The Elite to disallow runescape discussion (just as HF), then this forum would lose like 90 % of the threads... This could be possible as it is being a lot of botting and real world trading here.

What if this happens? Is this even possible?

If that happened then Runegear.net would die. Its traffic would lay in those who had been members for so long and don't want to leave it behind. On another note, Jagex can't tell him to do that.

No, there is a freedom of speech if I'm not mistaken.
And if that happened I'm sure The Elite would just close RuneGear.

Well thats not why Runescape isn't allowed on HF. Omni just got mad at all the scamming and spamming it was bringing. It got banned the first time for all of the hacking discussion, which doesn't go on here :D

I'm guessing you'll bring up the RSbots website, and if I'm not mistaken it was for two reasons. It being open source and them breaking copyright violations.

You really sure that is why? Why would Omni care? He is earning money anyway? :p

How about FuckJagex? ;)

The only two that got fucked by Jagex were FJ(Because of their name), and RsBot, because they were fucking with Jagex aswell and Jagex came in and slapped the hell out of them.

He's right the reason it was banned on another forum was because of the high scam rate and it filling up the forums. This is a runescape forum therefore it doesn't bother us to see everything about runescape. But his website is directed at computing and runescape was to popular.

Jagex or anyone for that matter can't forbid a type of discussion from your forum. The only thing they can disallow and seize are copyrighted assets. Your thoughts, discussions and opinions on RS belong to the people who disclosed them. It's like saying all the computer and tech support forums will be stripped of their rights to discuss Apple and Microsoft software and hardware troubleshooting boards. They can't do that. A company owns rights to the product, not the discussion about it.

And if ever they do find a loophole to shutting us down, all we need to do is replace every since 'RuneScape' on RuneGear with 'Rune$cape' or something like that. The law is very beneficial if you know how to bend it to your advantage. You guys have nothing to worry about.

Pretty much it's like saying that Zybez or whatever, or RuneHQ will be closed for runescape discussion.
I do see, however, that Jagex MAY, in the future (like 2 years) ask us to close the botting discussion if our site gets REALLY popular.

They can't ask us to close botting discussion or any part as long as we don't infringe upon open source policies and any other actual law in place.

They can ask to close the private server section though.

Private server's are another thing. I know that the person running the server is committing a crime but I don't think the discussion is illegal.

But the section is more than discussion and their talking about making an official RG elite private server

I'm pretty sure The Elite would just speak to Jagex and make changes to the forum, for example; take away the botting discussion.

No possible way they would stop Runescape discussion.
