What does pending on snapchat mean?

Googled and found like 20 different answers. Could someone tell me what the actual reason is?

I think it's if you've sent them a snap and either they've blocked you or haven't accepted your request yet.

Whatever it is, the snap is 'pending' delivery, waiting to be delivered.

If you're talking about it in the sense that you have a pending snap, they've added you and sent you a photo before you even accepted, and when you accept, the photo will be ready to view.
