People are saying that 'Oh bots will come back like they always do'. Jagex has made huge changes to the client that will be extremely hard for the developers to combat. They will be lucky to get through Jagex's first wave. They aren't done, by the the time they are done fixing bots, Jagex could be ready to fuck them up even more.

Not only will they lose money but they will do these rigorous updates and mutation to the client and the code and the login and everything associated that will not only affect bots but also affect regular players in the swing of things. As a company they have to think about both ends of the perspective and right now they're not killing every single bot; they're blowing smoke up their regular userbases' asses just to make them feel warm and fuzzy inside.

However, what this shows is that Jagex were very reluctant to initiate this change - they've obviously been capable of implementing client updates to prevent botting since day one, however, due to the vast amount of revenue generated from botters' membership fees, they hesitated until now.

It wouldnt cost jagex money? Uhm, ever heard of wages or employment fees? Just because Jagex has employees at their disposal doesn't mean making changes to the games code doesn't cost them time and money doing so. Developers work for free making things that MIGHT work every day, thats why theres things called ALPHA and BETA and UNSTABLE and things like that; Key evidence, CyanogenMod, furthermore, CMTouchpad.

Changing and manipulating the game to kill bots will affect legit players. Downtimes, changes, alterations to the site and menus can go 100% successful but might be an unwanted change to legit players. Or it could go partly successful and cause disruptions in game play, disconnections, downtimes, bugs, etc.

They disabled, yes, but they didnt destroy. Just because they succeeded in doing this one time just means bot makers like RSBuddy will need to change themselves as well. Since when has a war been won in 1 battle?

Jagex pays their employees to maintain and update their game on a regular basis but what they're talking about and you're talking about is a long term struggle. That means either more man hours or more man power, meaning shelling out more money on external help or paying for more employees or paying there employees more for their work. EVEN IF ITS A DOLLAR, they're paying for it.

Are you seriously going to stand behind "~1 minute an update" because I can guarantee you 99% of updates take anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour to complete and get EVERY server back online.

I never said that you said anything; I was posing a question. I'm merely saying Jagex may have disabled 98% of bots but they didn't disable them forever, by the time they get to that other "2%" I can assure you 50%+ of those "disabled" bots will be back and working. I'm not saying they're not going to be detected, I'm not saying they're not going to be disabled again, but Jagex hasnt claimed victory and probably never fully will.
