The end of "everything free" in the internet

I think with Apple iPaD, the concept of "everything's free" in the internet is nearing its end. Apple produces its own processors and operating system and have this iTunes and App store for all the contents of iPad where people have to pay to get contents for their iPad. Everything is the net is free and Apple is doing what every body does, to have something that people want and paid for it. With Apple getting rich with this scheme, do you think other companies will follow and the end of everything free in the internet is eminent ?
