I've been on another forum frequently, and I've enjoyed it for a while. The members, and the staff are, or were great people.

The admin is a great guy, and tries to keep in-touch with the community as much as possible. But, recently, people have been acting foolish, and lowering the community from how awesome it used to be. People have been making threads about closing their account, and how they don't want to come back. While the next day, they're posting like nothing happened.

A few months ago, we had a pretty cool contest on who can make the best video for the forum. It got fun, and then people started to blame each other how there editing was taken from another channel, and it was just plain ole childish after that, and was closed. Then we had another one, on who could write-out the best motto, that one also got out-of-hand much sooner then the last one, and was terminated.

I mean, the fun is starting to leak from it, and now people are blaming anybody, staff members and such.

I mean, what are your suggestions?

Sounds like runegear. Yay.

My suggestions are Do what he thinks is right.
If people don't like the contests or complain Well tough shit for them
Its suppose to be fun Its suppose to work.
Its not the contest's fault its the users
Users are the problem Regular users/Staff

All I got to say is Start a competition and If people break the rules just Tell them or warn them etc
These things are really not that difficult

You can't satisfy everyone, especially a bunch of people gathered together for one common reason all armed with computers and e-penises. Real talk.

Explain more fully, and how it should be contempt with.

What I'm trying to say is If The elite makes a contest
There will ALWAYS be kids who complain one way or another
All he has to do is Start a contest that he finds suitable and Just let it run
Kids will complain Yes they will but the contest will still be successful

And what I mean by its the peoples fault I mean

Users and Staff will complain
Users and staff can always find loop holes in the rules and Try to cheat
Staff complain there is to much work etc when Really there isn't
Users complain about people being LQ when really they aren't

I think EVERYONE will benefit by just Reading the rules
Staff can understand what to remove and what not to remove
Users will know what to report and what not to report

It will cause less complaints
It will cause less false reports

I didn't even think I needed to say these things but Obviously I do
If you need me to explain more on things Just tell me and Ill gladly do so

Bumping this up.

Surely more people can help.

It seems contests are what's bringing everyone to act how they are, so maybe suggest stop contests? Or set stricter rules for contests? You can't really do much for immaturity, so, yea..

may i ask what forum you're talking about?

You should lay down some new ground rules and cut the slack. I mean sure, try to be nice about it even though it is frustrating to deal with members acting like that. By cut the slack I mean if people aren't willing to follow the rules, take action.

People are always going to find something to argue about. You see it on the best of forums. It all boils down to what they're arguing about. Many people fail to see this insignificance of what they are arguing about so their greed takes over bringing out the 'immature' and 'childish' behaviors. If members aren't willing to be respectful and carry out their membership to the forum in a respectful and mature manor, then they just shouldn't have the privilege of having all of the opportunities a normal member would have.

I suggest you come up with some new rules. Enforce them, but be nice about it. Perhaps if things go well, start up a contest again and see how it goes. If some members cause problems then take action. It doesn't have to be severe, like a ban or anything. A simple warning or disqualification would do.

An overall goal would be to find the perfect balance between the amount of fun and activities the users of the forum can handle, and the rules and how strictly they are enforce. That can be, even for the best of administrators, a very perilous task.

All in all just be as nice as possible about whatever gets done.

I wish the forum, and you, good luck with this problem. :nice:
