Should I allow guests to post in "The Hut"?

Could be something that will boost activity/post count over the exam period, and it might encourage users to sign up and get involved instead. This will be the only section they can post in.

I say no. It will allow spammers and bots to come in. Big mistake if you ask me.

No way man.

If they want to post, they can register.

Doesn't matter if verification or not. People will spam and take advantage if it.

Registration only takes 1min max. If people want to post, they might as well make an account and reap the benifits of having a proper account.

I say do it, but what do I know. I don't really care. It's not like it will make that much of a difference.

@Anonymous: Exactly.

People they can't see any of the content in the important section. People don't join forums for "The Hut", they join it for the Market, or the Monetizing section, or Gaming, or Computers, or help with their website or something. Lots of MyBB forums allow guest posters.

http://lunaticoutpost.com/ is one of the most successful MyBB forums, and it allows guest posting. That has over 1,000,000 posts of non-spam.

I'm not saying "God guys it's going to happen". I'm just stating the reasons for this adjustment, as not many of you seem to understand it lol.

The issue isn't spamming; it's that using guest posting would take away from the personal touch each post gives and also gives other users the ability to just post whatever they please under a "guest profile". I also believe that by having each member register you can improve the connection that exists between the website and member. The site is also improved numerically by having every poster register before posting.

well it is also because of spammers. There always ones like viagra and stuff. so no don't do it ;)

Consider this Crayo.

I am on both sides. There are disadvantages and advantages, however, I feel that there are more disadvantages then advantages :(.

I would suggest trying it for ~1 week, if it works out, great! If it doesn't, delete the feature.

I think you should allow it.. Yeah people may spam but that's why you have moderators and the power to delete anything you don't want. I think everyone has to realize this wouldn't be permanent. If it fails, it fails. You simply remove that privilege for guests and we move on.

I somewhat agree with paradox. I am more active now (since I have finished an internet marketing project) and can definitely help moderating the Hut. There won't be much spam, so we don't really need to worry about that. We have plenty of moderators, staff, admins and founders to take care of that. The question is the other factors that we may encounter.
