How long do you think RuneScape will last while maintaining over 100 worlds?

I think the game will lose many players as it is now and end up closing many servers down to remain profitable temporarily, until it has only a 2-3 dozens of servers left for the really dedicated players. I give this 5-6 years honestly.

As you can see, profits after all expenses removed was halfed from 2009-2010 -> 2010-2011. This may be attributed to their increased investing, but still an immense decrease, but we'll see what they produce in this financial year.

Vote in the poll accordingly.

3 years or so, but I'd still be happy If i made anywhere near 6-7 digits of cash

You'd think that, only if your profit didn't drop by 50%.

Good point, but what're you going to do with all that money? You're set for life at that income..

Not much for a company providing games for hundreds of thousands of players. You use that money to expand, or else the profits will fall. Remember that the company has shares, it's not just one person. :not_entertained:

RuneScape will last indefinitely.

Profit means little. Just because it dropped be a large some doesn't mean the success of Jagex is declining. The reason profit margins dropped was because they invested more in other game developments than they have in any other year, not to mention the near $3 000 000 increase in staff wages.
Overall turnover is what should be looked at and is higher than previous years, proving to show growth within the company.
Besides, that report isn't just based on RuneScape. It's everything.

I'd say 7-9 years.
There is still a lot of people that play and will still join.
I think that it will start dying 2016 and die finally in 2019.

Btw, voting doesn't seems to work correctly in mobile version. It doesn't redirects me anywhere.

Lol I used that exact same pic in the RS Debate we had last year about botting (http://runegear.net/showthread.php?tid=54316&pid=460605#pid460605 )

I said 7-9. There are so many big companies out there which would sponsor RuneScape/JaGeX. The moment they start losing too much, some big gaming company will probably roll in a bail them out (for a piece of the action of course). If they're going to start gaining a profit, they should start opening up their stock market to the public.

Honestly, I wish it kept on going, but it isn't going to. It's going to die like WoW. That's good though, because then new MMO's will start popping up.

If it does get small, I think that'd be cool. You'd know everyone on the game really good.

I can't see it increasing or decreasing rapidly within the next 10 years. As the older people leave, the newer people come in. Usually in bigger number too.

This happens all the time, it's almost obvious that it will go on for a long time to come. Whether or not it does, I'll be out of it in 3 years or less.

To maintain 100 worlds, I'd say 5 years

It probably would never get small enough for you to know everyone playing. I think it will last many more years. People are still joining, people are still playing. New updates will cause some people to quit, but it will also get some people to invite their friends because they like the updates so much. Of course it eventually will end, but that won't happen any time soon.

The best they did was to bring back free trade and Wildy.

And if they added more spaces in the inventory if you upgrade to member you get lets say 56 places instead of 28 they would've gotten more members !

56 slots would destroy PvP. Can you imagine the amound of rocktails/brews/pots people would have. Up members to something like 35 slots (a 5th column) but no more.

Haha yes, I was overreacting a bit (A)

but yes, upgrade to member will give you a 5th column instead of just 4.
