java is cross platform and am sure runescape admins will purchase a polymorphic bot which hides itself with a ring1337 rootkit and is written in vb.net from hackforums.

Anyway this sounds great, i used to play runescape in 2006 and it was a good time luring them kids for there stuff.

Seems like a lot of time/effort just for a JDB. Ofc, this would make the history books if it's successful.

He also owned Rs2007, which did release and was open for a week. Then he closed it down for rs2k6. Any idea why he'd do that? (just bouncing theories)
 
Why is everyone dwelling on the past? RS2006 will NEVER be able to bring back the memories of runescape in 2006. People will eventually find flaws, and realize that in the end, it's a private server, with the chances of one's hard work being gone in a flash. Needless to say, once people play rs2006, they'll find out that they were most likely wrong, that the new RS is a lot better.
 
Tbh Treb, you make some good points. I still play real RS quite frequently (lost 20m to staking, trolol) I do miss the "old days" though. It's not so much as they're better, I just want to revisit them for some time. I'm sure that in the end, that's what everyone here really wants to do. Just revisit their memories. After a few months, the hype will have died down. Not saying no one will play, but I guess we'll need to see.
 
This isnt Even going to be worth Playing. Me and my Friend Downloaded the Released source and Looked through it. It has so many Processes and half Assed code its probably only going to be able to hold 50 Players, If that.

He hasn't released the code, and they did a stability test held 300 players or so.

It already was released, unfortunately it bombed, but not before the source was made public with a few errors by one of the previous developers.
 
I have been following these guys for a good time now, This is going to be great, I donated for pre alpha, but you don't keep your stats from it.


To the idiots that think this is a java drive by, Its not, its a very long term project, the owners have been interviewed and everything, It's completely legit.


And go check their forums for release dates, It's going to release in early august, It's going to be 100% stable, and working like it was in 2006, and the holiday events will start from 2001 and stop at 2006 ( 5 years of events is long enough because the server won't be alive that long )

I trust them, nevertheless, as I saw those YouTube video's/ppl are really excited.

Hope this is as good as it looks like

But we got to stay realistic, this is not going to be a success, most likely.
People's morals have changed, its all about ''how can i fuck up another player as much as possible''. In 2006, everything in the community was so much more important. Now people dont care anymore, main reason why RS fails so hard atm.
 
Yeah. With all their donators and stuff they've already made a lot. If it was a JDB someone would probably screw em over some how.
