i have an account with games played from 2007, but it hasn't been used or touched in ages. I just signed in earlier and accepted the latest ToS. My question is, will this account have a tenure?

it doesn't matter if it had gold the whole time as long as it had gold at least once it will have a tenure.

I believe that a tenure is added for every 12 months that the account has a gold subscription.

I may be wrong though, I haven't owned an Xbox for quite a while.

It goes up for every 12 months you had it so if you put 12 1 months on it over a 2 year period at the end of the last code it will turn to the next 1.
