[POLL] Close 1 Million Post?

Do you guys think the million post should be closed?

I think so because it is just giving LQ posters the ability to spam and get posts up.

No offence to the spammers. lol

this has been debated before but its not against the rules. philly endorses the thread. and the option no, i want to get my post count up is not actualyl whats going on.

It's the dumbest thread ever, oh yeah makes sense to let people have the opportunity to have 1k post on only ONE thread.

While many members think the thread is LQ and provokes LQ responses as well as 'rep boosting' and spam. I would like to take this time to play the Devil's Advocate.

The 'Count to 1 million' thread although seems LQ on the outside and seems to promote spam can be looked on at a much deeper level.

Firstly, It increases the solidarity of the community. Why? It is a goal that our entire community is a part of. We as individuals, when given a cause bigger than ourselves, often rise to the occasion. I think this thread builds a goal oriented and supporting community.

Secondly, The thread is an excellent outlet for LQ posts and spam. With a specific thread essentially dedicated for 'LQ responses' as well as 'spam'. It will keep these forms of posting out of the other areas of the forums, since people can use the thread as an outlet for their LQ responses.

Finally, the thread is not doing harm. The thread does not affect others. People are not forced to post in it. If you do not want to be apart of it you can simply choose not to post. Due to this it is essentially a win win. If you want to post you can and if you do not simply ignore the thread.

Sometimes we need to think beyond what is right under our noses, and I hope my post has shed some light on the issue and inspired others to think about the thread differently.

PERFECT.. so for the people that actually posted on "count to 1 million" to boost their post count will feel dumb for wasting there time
