Every Xbox 360 owners knows about the different problems that can plague their beloved console in a horrifyingly terrible twist of fate. Issues such as the dreaded Error 74 or the nightmarish Red Ring of Death, rendering gaming systems more inert than an icicle on a snowy winter morning and dead as a doornail. It's a terrifying hardware flaw that Microsoft, despite initial denials, finally stepped up and showed that they could expertly handle an otherwise sticky customer relations issue.

While gamers could send in their dead consoles for repair, which are now coverned under warranty, there is an alternative floating around on the internet that guarantees a fix to the problem permanently. In all honesty though, when someting seems a bit too good to be true, odds are, it is.

Claiming to have gamers up and running again in less than an hour from the time of the incident, it requires getting your hands on a do-it-yourself guide online that can instruct you as to how to fix the issue. The problem is, the DIY guide not only runs you a bit of money, it also voids the warranty of the device you may have a significant amount of time, effort and affection invested in.

While the site does claim that, "this method of fixing your Xbox 360 is quickly becoming the method of choice for most Xbox 360 owners." It seems that there is a significant lack of online testimonials lending this route any sort of affirmation. Additionally, the crowded Xbox Support forums along with the fact that 1-800-4MYXBOX is still going strong is a significant amount of evidence that people still have some trust in the manufacturer to take care of them when they need it most.

Nice thread, I've had red rings about 3 times now. Basically what I did was take of the casing and clean it with compressed air.
