Our Unstructured, Broken Society

I am angry at the world for having religion doctrines. I am personally an Atheist as there is no real evidence for the existence of ANY type of god. However, all of my family members are like "hurr durr do you have any evidence that there is no God?" I sit back and silently scream within my mind. See, if you have an outrageous claim, you need to be able to back it up. This is especially the case when you blatantly make something up like religion. They were the ones who made their beliefs up, yet they want me to prove to them that they are wrong. It's absurd. And all the while, they tell me how stupid I am, how immoral I am, how evil I am, just for not believing in something that obviously doesn't exist.

I am angry at the world for the bigotry I am subjected to everyday for being bisexual. As a student of both Latin and Greek, I have come to understand classical thought. The ancient Romans had no concept of homosexuality. Sex was sex. The orgies were simply modes escaping the day-to-day monotony of old world civilization. Love was love. The existentially epic tales of heroism... the attraction that followed suit. Zeus (Jupiter) is notorious for having sex with animals and the like. This was a common acceptance. There is nothing morally wrong with allowing two people to love each other, yet, our current society has all but ostracized anyone who does indeed love someone else of the same gender.

I am angry at the world for developing mindless clones. Everyday I sit in school wondering when I will learn something new that I haven't already learned by being an Internet addict. Yes, I sit on the computer almost 24 hours a day... Just absorbing everything I can. The Internet was originally made for the spread of information and likewise I will take advantage of that. I could care less about that new YouTube video everyone is talking about. It doesn't matter. See, the world rewards people who mindlessly accept everything they are told. The world rewards people who are able to memorize endless facts just to empty their skull of this information on the very next exam. It's sad.

I am angry at the world for being racist. I am always hearing racial slurs being thrown every which way towards everyone of every nationality. Why do people feel that they are so superior to everyone else? We are all people; we are all equally capable of bringing unique, innovative change to this world. It sickens me to think that some people are so conceited with themselves that they will put down other members of the human race. Who knows? Maybe that one kid who was called a "nigguh" all his life became a thug because you expected him to be. You told him he wasn't fit for society and he believed you.

I am angry at the world for blindly, passively living their lives. I feel like Im the only one in my family that questions society. My mother openly admitted that she didn't know why it rains just the other day. Really? You don't even know why it rains? Mind you she went to Law School and is now doing just that: she is an Attorney at Law. She is an American lawyer who doesn't know why it rains. It saddens me when people I know mock other religions but when questioned, they can't name a single aspect of said religion. "Them Islams is crazy! All they done is kill people!" I want to be the father of a new generation. A generation that actually cares about their future. A generation that seeks to improve upon society instead of just adopting the current broken model. Who's with me?

Couldn't agree more.

Religion is for people scared of death. I can not think of any other reason people would want to take part in a religion, but that's there choice, I'm fine with it, just don't try shoving it down my thought.

School's the same for me, I go to school near a pretty bad area, every class I'm in is full of people who just don't want to learn, and the teachers cannot control the class. In a week I will have learnt more online than at school.

Great thread op, made me think.

NiQue, it appears you and I are the only programmers/coders on this site. We also share religious views. I like. By the way, if I ever need to, how would I pronounce your handle?

Im catholic, but actually i sort of feel the same way. We are a broken society, and nobody is doing anything to fix that. A change needs to be made.

EDIT: Love the rant.

haha, Great minds think alike.

It's pronounced "Neek" I'm not really a coder but I'd love to get into it, I only know html, css and if it counts, VB. Though I'm trying to learn some php.

If you ever need help, or want to chat, my aim is [email protected] and my msn is the same.

Ever notice how nowadays, it seems like there are far more Atheists and Agnostics around? I was talking to my dad about this, and he said when he was growing up, hardly anyone labelled themselves as an Atheist. He grew up in the same city I live in currently (A Canadian city with a population of over a million), and nearly everyone was part of one of the Christian sub-religions.

Now, after talking to a lot of my friends, seems like a LOT of them either don't give a fuck in the world about religion, or actually label themselves Atheist. Not to mention how many Atheists I encounter on online forums and Xbox LIVE. Even with that, a large chuck of people I know are part of a church, or are Theist still.

I don't have a clue about Europe and other areas of the world besides North America on if this sort of thing is happening around the globe (kind of doubtful in highly religious areas; middle east as an example), but this new generation that's growing up and the generation after it doesn't sound like it's going to influenced by religion much at all if things keep going this way.

Just shit I've been contemplating the last few days.

That's another I should have mentioned. Most people who claim to not give a fuck about religion are just undecided, or haven't had the chance to look into any religon, since they're teenagers and would rather think about the opposite sex and Xbox and music rather then what religion they should follow.

Religion just seems so flawed to me. I believe in a higher power. I do. However, I see God as a watchmaker... He put the cigs in order, wound the gears, and let it tick. I don't think God even considers him, her, or itself as a God. God may be a particle.
