Well, I guess the myBB template clearly allows quick/easy user changing. But the site owners / forum owners decide whether or not Multiple Accounts is allowed.

Yeah you can have that removed. It's just weird that it's implemented in the software but no forum owners allow multiple accounts, that's all.

I guess if it's for a forum that deals with marketplace and trading it's to prevent users from scamming on two different accounts and/or fake bidding to raise the amount on the item. It's mainly for precautions of scams.

I personally do not desire removing it. I am honestly considering allowing multiple accounts and have for quite sometime now. Obviously just not ban evaders. There is no true issue with someone multi accounting if they want to act like two different people while being legit I honestly don't see the issue. It's not yet allowed, just something I am considering.

Im guessing you would need to tell everyone (or just you) of your 2nd account and if one of your accounts scammed both would be banned?

They would just be linked, it'd be automatic.

Absolutely not, that would defeat the reason anyone would ever want to multi to begin with I would imagine. It would be viewable to me only.

There is no point that I see, the issue here is that why should me or my team waste our times  banning multi accounts and losing activity when in theory who gives a flying fuck if someone wants to be two people or not. It all comes down to time, the team shouldn't waste their time banning multis when it realistically hurts the forums activity. Meaning the ban of multi's has absolutely no benefits, it actually has quite alot of downfalls.

As I said ban evaders would still be banned, same with scammers so essentially there should be no issues to be had.

While I can see where you're coming from, it's honestly just creepy, to be honest.  I've always found it to make sense to just ban the multis and confine them to their original account.  I don't know, though.  Lol

I couldn't agree more, but when it comes to banning users that should be banned such as scammers and such very promptly, while banning multis too, we waste our time that could be spent doing much more than just banning people who choose to have two personalities if you will.

The amount of work that is put in just to ban a multi-account is a lot. Though likely 90% or so people who that actually have another account are the ban evaders and scammers, no? I don't think any normal person would have two accounts unless they had a specific reason to and the only reasons I can think of are being bi-polar and wanting free stats like rep and posts. 

So in the long run, aren't you really just banning the multi-accounts for the two more ideal reasons (ban evading and scamming) or is this actually something you have come across on a regular basis?

@Philly that is eye opening, I have always looked at multing bad, but now it sort of looks like a good activity booster.
I am not the one to do this, but I am sure we can get a lot of people to be doing it. More activity, less stress on the Staff team, what else could you ask for?
