I think it is an attempt to mess up bots. Bots always use safemode, so, that is quite the possibility.

I logged in today and it asked me for that auto-setup graphics thing and I made it stay the same and it made my items tiny like that as well. I don't really like it but I don't want to switch off of the graphics I'm using.
