Tigger :D

About him:
He wasn't always my cat, but fate brought him to me. When he was young (~6 months old), he was a show cat in QLD, Australia. He has an award for best in show. About 10/11 years ago, my mum decided to go on a holiday to QLD to visit relatives. She was undecided as to whether or not get another cat. She found a local breeder close to my aunties house (where she was staying on holidays) and decided to go in and have a look around. None of the cats caught her attention, until the breeder spoke about a domestic that was basically dumped on her doorstep a few days before. Mum saw the cat (forgot his showname >.< ) with the award ribbon pinned to his cage. The breeder was willing to give it to my mum for free since it technically wasn't her cat either. This cat was soon to be mine and I didn't even know it.

When mum came back from Queensland (I live in NSW for any Aussies here :p ), she told me she had a surprise for me. I thought it was just a travelling gift. I open the laundry door to find a cat sitting on the washing machine, staring at me and howling. He loved to talk and loves affection. His howling made me give him the name, Tigger.

Even though mum got him for free, he has been far from that. He likes to fight with other cats for territory and generally other animals because it's in his nature. This has left him with scabs, scars, and chunks missing from his ears. the worst that has happened was when he was hit by a car once and broke his back leg. He luckily escaped death.

Tigger has only ever hissed and growled once or twice in his life. He loves to talk. If I've been out of the house, he will greet me when I get home and try to have a conversation with me. Unfortunately, I don't speak cat. If you say "hello" to him, he will respond with a meow close to the sound of a "hello". If you ask him where he has been, he will give you a VERY long meow back.

I have also taught him a few little tricks of his own. He can open sliding doors and doors with handles he can reach. When we feed him kangaroo meat, he can pick up the tough bits of meat with his claws and basically eat with his hands (so to speak). As seen in the photo, I have also taught him to stand on two feet because he knows that he will get rewarded with a nice long pat. I have taught him to lie down by placing my hand on the ground with my palm facing up and he knows that i will pat his side if he lies on my hand.

If you have read all that and wondering why I'm doing this post? It's because today, on the 13th July, its his 11th birthday. And to me, he is the greatest cat in the world. :D

This is probably the first thread I've ever 5-starred just for the sheer fact that Tigger is hands-down the most awesome cat I've ever seen, and your story is <3. "When we feed him kangaroo meat" I want kangaroo

Give your cat a huge happy birthday hug from Gum. That's a sweet story and a sweeter cat.

AWESOME CAT! Haha this is my cat the first day we got him. His name is Leo. Man he looked like a rat or something big ass head. He's full grown now this pic is like a year old or something only pic i got of him. I'll post a new one soon.

Haha. Always been a dog person myself. I think cats are cute as hell but my parents are highly allergic so I can never have one of my own until I move out. Cats seem like too high maintenance as well, is that true?

Actually I'd say they're less maintenance than dogs. They bury their own shit. They bath themselves. Usually go about their day on their own so they don't need much looking after other than feeding them and cleaning the kitty litter trays. Unless you get a long-haired which requires to be groomed, they're quite simple animals to look after.

Well what type of cats are yours and Armanis? Are they long-haired? They're cute as hell D:

Tigger is just a domestic short-haired tabby. And I'm not quite sure what breed Armanis breed is.

Didnt read, but cute cat :)

A few ducks decided to land in my pool and tease my cat by swimming up and down the pool. If they came any closer to the edge, the would have been dinner.

Hahaha lol that's awesome. Our old cat (R.I.P.) once tried chasing some swans on the street, she lived past that. Our cat now though is a beast, she's caught rats, moles, hummingbirds and even a crow lol.
