Tigger
About him:
He wasn't always my cat, but fate brought him to me. When he was young (~6 months old), he was a show cat in QLD, Australia. He has an award for best in show. About 10/11 years ago, my mum decided to go on a holiday to QLD to visit relatives. She was undecided as to whether or not get another cat. She found a local breeder close to my aunties house (where she was staying on holidays) and decided to go in and have a look around. None of the cats caught her attention, until the breeder spoke about a domestic that was basically dumped on her doorstep a few days before. Mum saw the cat (forgot his showname >.< ) with the award ribbon pinned to his cage. The breeder was willing to give it to my mum for free since it technically wasn't her cat either. This cat was soon to be mine and I didn't even know it.
When mum came back from Queensland (I live in NSW for any Aussies here
Even though mum got him for free, he has been far from that. He likes to fight with other cats for territory and generally other animals because it's in his nature. This has left him with scabs, scars, and chunks missing from his ears. the worst that has happened was when he was hit by a car once and broke his back leg. He luckily escaped death.
Tigger has only ever hissed and growled once or twice in his life. He loves to talk. If I've been out of the house, he will greet me when I get home and try to have a conversation with me. Unfortunately, I don't speak cat. If you say "hello" to him, he will respond with a meow close to the sound of a "hello". If you ask him where he has been, he will give you a VERY long meow back.
I have also taught him a few little tricks of his own. He can open sliding doors and doors with handles he can reach. When we feed him kangaroo meat, he can pick up the tough bits of meat with his claws and basically eat with his hands (so to speak). As seen in the photo, I have also taught him to stand on two feet because he knows that he will get rewarded with a nice long pat. I have taught him to lie down by placing my hand on the ground with my palm facing up and he knows that i will pat his side if he lies on my hand.
If you have read all that and wondering why I'm doing this post? It's because today, on the 13th July, its his 11th birthday. And to me, he is the greatest cat in the world.
