Oh, I didn't know that. I remember spending what seemed like forever going back and forth on the edge of that island when I was little trying to get it to appear. Good times.....life was so simple.

>talk to the Pokemon Catching trainer near the beginning of the game.
>doing this will cause you to be put in some list or other (or whatever) for what kind of pokemon to appear on certain islands.
>go to that island, and it will appear actually rather quickly.

I have never played the first generation but something like this happened to me on Silver and Gold.

Pokemon was the best. I remember finishing my Pokemon Leaf Green version in five days. Surprisingly, I refused to cheat by using an infinity amount of masterballs and rare candies.

You are supposed to beat the game first then go back and do it again with infinite masterballs and infinite rare candies. =p

I never played Leaf Green, guess that is/was too new for me. I'm an old man I guess. lol
