I plan on signing my life over to the military soon but while i wait to decide my future i would like some feedback. If anyone is currently enrolled, applying, stationed or just in anyway shape or form related to the military then please post your feedback.

For people who must flame or post LQ please refrain from doing so.

I have recruiters calling me like every week since I just graduated, I might be enrolling. Which branch are you planning on joining if you do?

I am signing my papers with the Marines at the end of the month. Definitely enlist bro.

I've already been recruited into the Air Force, I'll be assigned somewhere after I graduate.
If anywhere, I suggest the Air Force, talk to a local recruiter about the benefits...ect

I'm joining the british navy soon, Going is as a Royal Commando.

I wish you the best of luck.

i would like to be an MP but im not completely sure.

right now i wake up with the feeling i should be doing something in my life and each day i get closer and closer to going to ranger school.

@lorrenzini, you too.

Yay, let's go get blown up in some god forsaken hole over oil which we sell back to our families at a severely overpriced rate.

If you're going to join, I'd suggest joining the Navy, as far as I know they have little or nothing to do with what's going in the east (according to a friend of mine who's been enlisted for about a year now), so it'd be a safe way to bank some coin and get some post secondary behind you.

Whatever you do, don't buy into that patriot die for your country bullshit, there's nothing sacred at stake in the 'wars' currently being fought. Unless freedom is now considered $100/barrel (which I think it may be).

I have no fear of dying nor do i plan to, You may be a coward but surely im not. the military is my choice and my definite choice to live my life.

And if i may die it won't be for oil, it will be for what i believe is right.

what i want you to do is watch the hurtlocker, After the symbolic message of love and war is passed through your mind you will know what is going threw mine, I have a thirst for battle and a thirst to fight. I am proud to live in America and if i die defending my fellow soldiers or defending my station i will die with a smile.

P.S the war is not against the rights for oil, i would think you knew that.

I find it very offensive as an American to what fatMatch just said, it doesn't matter what's worth fighting for, it's just the fact that your fighting for what you love, what you cherish, your family, friends, and Americans, not just oil, or gas, people, fellow Americans.

I really dislike you now, I am proud to be American, I came from Estonia, and all my friends said it sucks here, but it doesn't, it's a lot better then what you think.

It's so hard to believe how little pride Americans have in their own country, and how they don't appreciate what they have, or the rights they have.

My family came here with practically nothing, but we kept our hopes up, and America has delivered, it's all about striving to get what you want.

Sorry if I'm raging, I just can't stand when people say this, try living in Estonia, and do the things you do here, you will be jailed within the first 10 minutes of arrival.

Sort of offensive. I want to follow in my fathers foot steps which he was a war hero. And someday I hope to be as well.

No offense to anyone in any branch of the military or with family in but I'd advise against it. If you really want to enlist finish college first then enroll.

finish college? there is various military college i can be enrolled in at the same time.

in fact, you must go to college to be an MP anyway.

Thank you.

If you plan on being in the military I'm guessing your prepared for combat. Why should you risk your life to help your government oppress others for their benefit? Go to college, spend those years thinking about whether you really want to do it.

The Air Force will pay for college, and a dorm, plus there is a place where you get food, so you really only pay for luxuries.

the military is far more elaborate then you may think, combat is 1 option out of thousands. i could enroll and never touch a weapon after basic combat training.

because humanitarians do nothing but bitch all day, the military takes action.

and im not implying i won't be in combat, you would definitely know that if you read my posts.

" i could enroll and never touch a weapon after basic combat training."
Then why tell me that if you don't consider it. I'd have to disagree with that statement organizations like the Red Cross have my uttermost respect. Good luck with whatever you do, I'd recommend to try and find someone with recent experience in the military if you haven't already.

I was simply telling you its a possibility? And another thing, charities including red cross are only legally suppose to give 15% of their donations. you have no idea what they actually give to countries.

I have sought out various veterans including my next door neighbor who is a green beret.
