Military Questions or Guidance

Hello, I am going to just open this thread for those who are interested about the military (of any country,) joining, general questions or have already joined and just starting out.

Why am I doing this? Well, honestly over the course of being online I have seen some questions of people who are interested above and I do have experience, roughly 6 and a half years worth with a few tours overseas under my belt. Which I wouldn't mind given any answers to those who ask. My knowledge is quite extended and IF I can't get your answer I can simply call and/or text my chain of command and find you the answer.

Please keep the questions non-personal, as I do not want to share personal things about my own career, I will simply use my experience to help you out with your own questions that concern YOU.

So, ask away if you have any.

Do you regenerate health like on COD ? jk

Is being an engineer a dangerous job compared to being in the infantry ?

It depends on what kind of engineer. If you're talking about a 12B (Combat Engineer) then of course it's highly dangerous. If you're talking about being an Army Sapper, then no, because they are some of the most hardcore people in the Army.

In all seriousness, any MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) in the Military is going to be dangerous, but I don't think I'd rate being an engineer up there with Infantry, excluding 12B's of course.

Exactly. The battlefield is 360 degrees and you are bound to fall into one area or another. Also, everyone serves in the role. Without engineers, people like myself (Infantry) wouldn't be able to cross certain obstacles and the other way around.

You're going into combat, it's always going to be just as dangerous a the next role if you're in the combat arms.

You're 11B? I would've never survived Ft. Benning. I heard it was hell in handbasket.

I am Canadian, so no. However I have been to Ft. Benning before I was deployed overseas to Afghanistan for my second tour. Was part of my pre-deployment training when I went there.

I've trained with a fair share of Americans, in various branches. Such as the Marines, Rangers and Air force Pararescue. So I guess you can say, I've been around.

Oh okay. Army Rangers are insane. I'd love to train with some of those guys.
