Koins are a form of currency on this forum. You can earn koins by posting, getting donations, or winning the lottery.

I forgot to note: $0.01 = 10 koins. So 1k koins = $1.
 
Koins can be used for a variety of things. I am new also however by checking the work 'koins' on your profile it shows you what they can be used for. I hope this helps.
 
Usually, people do group/award buy-ins that allow you to use Koins as a currency. You can also use Koins to upgrade and buy SM's if the user is allowing Koins as a payment.
As stated by @"Mojo", 1k Koins is equivalent to $1.
 
You can use Koins to purchase things, it is, like Mojo said another form of virtual currency. You are able to purchase upgrades and you are able to change your username, etc.
Statistics
The statistics of Koins basically shows you the last changes people made, username conversions, etc. It also shows you the latest lottery winners, which I will explain below. It shows the richest users on the forum and the latest donations to other members.

Subscriptions
These are basically upgrades, as $1/1K Koins, if you are to acquire 18,000 coins ($18), you can purchase Onyx. That is the first upgrade, and from there you can purchase Power which is 25,000 koins.

Lottery
The lottery is held once a week and during the time frame of the week, users purchase a lottery ticket for 100 Koins. This all adds up and at the end of the 1 week, it randomly picks a user to win the jackpot.

Buy a username/usertitle
For as little as 100 Koins, you are able to change your username and user title, but upgrading will allow you to do this for free.
