When you are listing items, you use a commar, ofcourse! We knew that.

But when you use it, format it like this; 'apple, pears, bananas, oranges'

NOT; 'apples,pears,bananas,oranges'
or; 'apples ,pears ,bananas, oranges'

Also, when you are starting a sentence you use a capital letter!

You do NOT start a sentence like this:
'when i was seven i saw a duck it was cute'
The correct way to format a sentence like that would be:
'When I was seven I saw a duck, it was cute.'

Remember, fullstops must be used, unless you want to state that your angry, or just emphysising something, then you use an exclamation mark which, for all of your prepubscent people is (!) *minus the brackets*

One last thing... When you're typing something, you don't capitalise every starting letter of every word. You only capitalise the first letter of the first word, and other words that are places or names.

Thank you for reading.
;)

More things to add to this post.

Things not to do:
1. Connect two perfectly complete sentences with a comma.

Example: I hate grammar, I'm really bad at it.
Example: This is a very common mistake that just slays me, please don't do it.

In both of those examples, you should use a period or semicolon.

1a. Breaking up a perfectly complete sentence with a comma.
Example: I was tired after the hike because of the distance, and my lack of endurance.

There should be no comma in the sentence above. However, if this were the sentence:
Example I was tired after the hike because of the distance, and I lack endurance.

The comma would then be correct.

Onwards we go.

2. Write an incomplete sentence and act like it was complete by putting a period. When I read these, it makes very little sense. Look here:

Example: Something I really want. Whenever I see it.

A correct version might be: That is something I really want whenever I see it.

3. Abusing semicolons. (Also known as "Powell Syndrome")

Please don't abuse them, and if you insist on abusing them, at least learn how to properly abuse. There is usually a complete sentence on each side of the semicolon. These sentences are thematically connected. Here is a correct example:

I hope it doesn't snow today; I don't own a coat.

Even using them properly, the semicolon can be dangerous, for it adds a certain pause in the reading. This pause, when used repeatedly, makes the writing sound sort of jumpy and abrupt.

To finish it up, I won't give you a specific rule. Here are simply some incorrect examples with their correct counterparts.

I hate you because, you are dumb. Also I hate you, because you ate my dog. --->
I hate you because you are dumb. Also, I hate you because you ate my dog.

Whenever I see, someone, it makes me, very, angry. --->
Whenever I see someone, it makes me very angry.

Dude; this place; is really awesome; let's go eat; somewhere over there; --->
Dude, this place is really awesome. Let's go eat somewhere over there.

^I like this guy.

If you have to more things to teach, post them below.

Cheers kids, ~Singer

Pointless thread really.
There's either people who know how to use proper grammar, but simply don't.
There's users who are foreign and simply can't.
And then there's the 14 year olds who simply don't know or care for it.

..And then there's me..
:D

By the way, it's amusing that the both of you are talking about how to be 'grammatically correct' and whatnot, yet you both have errors in your posts.

This is a forum not english class.

@Famous

I don't care, I'm not trying to make this look like English class. There are just things people need to know, and I was letting them know. Don't post random shit on my thread thanks.

It's totally intended to be a thread for teaching English, so refrain from posting things other than teaching, yeah?

When I was seven, I saw a duck; it was cute.

Sounds more formal.

I agree with you 100% though. What better way to learn how to spell than to use correct grammar and sentence structure.

It's the internet; no grammatical errors.
Teachers in Australia already allow the use of 'u' to be a prefix for 'you'.. if you're a dumb kid that is. LOLOLOL

It was 100% directed at your thread.. so not sure how it could be random.

Your doing the same by posting on this thread.

I'm teaching, if you don't want to be a student, fuck off.
