ya its a pretty good forum software but there are many others out there that are free.... And to be honest I think mybb is a lot better than the IPB board.

MyBB is great and easily extended and edited yes. But I can't really compare them sinc not used IPB myself.

IPB is a more professional bit of Forum software if your making a business.
MYBB can look professional, but the free bit makes you think differently.

I guess it depends what type of forum you want to run. BUt out of the way it works I think MYBB is better and IPB is more professional.

Well, if you really work hard on it MyBB could be made like IPB though it would take quite abit of coding.

I meant not just in looks but the way it works. The forum setting you would have to edit the actual code that MYBB is made from to do that.

Ya either way unless you are starting a serious company I think you would be a lot better by just making a forum out of mybb.... You can make some really nice theme for mybb that look professional.. Like this one its looks pretty good dont you think?

Yeah this theme looks pretty good. I like those themes Justin S makes for MyBB they re real quality and are used across many MyBB forums.

The site is down due to money issues. you can find a forum powered by IPB by just googling powered by IPB and it should pull some up right away.

Yes Capital-Hosting has been closed due to the high amounts of money it has lost.

Maybe if IPB lowered their prices and made it so you don't pay multiple times you pay a flat-fee charge and thats it they would bring in more customers like me and keep their old customers using it but charge like $50 per upgrade.

You pay for lisence which lasts forever but the support expires so you need to pay $25 per year to continue to get support and the latest versions.

I paid 1 year for it and it has run out the license still works but you dont get any support and your unable to download files from the client area. so i would backup them.

1 Year = $125 + 1 Year Support,

After expire = License stays active support and files become unavalible till you pay $25 for another 1 year

I have all three major forum softwares, ipb, vbulletin and xenforo but i have to say ipb comes a close second after XenForo Im using it on a live forum and i find the controls very easy and its simple to modify.
