You should have asked the owner to extend your deadline by a day and hopefully he would have understanded.

He's trying to keep an image up I'm sure. Also he trusted his friend, so in his mind he saw that as the easier option, being stolen from just wasn't a thought that went through his mind.

I know he didn't think about getting it stolen, but he could have asked for an extension. Hopefully his guy could have understood the exception, and even possibly he could have given the guy a discount on his next transaction, or something along those lines.
