I killed my neighbors cat 3 days ago...

Dont tell them. Id be waaaaaayyyy more heart broken if someone killed my dog over him running away.
 
Just do what Greg did in meet the parents get a look alike mr jinx and spray paint the tail they won't know the difference
 
I wouldn't tell them, what they don't know can't hurt them. It's a cat, it's not like it was their son lmfao

To be fair you should of told the neighbours immediately as they may have been able to take it to the vets to make sure it didn't just get a concussion or have any bleeding in the brain that could've been stopped or prevented.

However you didn't do that so if I were you I'd politely ask to sit down with them and then you explain the situation. I understand that it will be really hard to explain to them but don't let the guilt build up inside of you, you'll feel a lot better with yourself for revealing the truth even if it turns the worse for the family.

I know that this thread was made a few days ago but that's my input. If you haven't already visited them by now then I wish you the best of luck with trying to tell them. Try to keep things calm even if they're not.

Some will say it's just a 'Cat' but maybe the family won't get a new cat as it will ''just run away like the last cat'' which is quite upsetting for the daughter, Knowing what happened gives them upset to get her a new one as little girls love kitties.

I feel like it will harm you more in the long run than it will them not telling them, They'll be left in mystery and you'll have this deep guilt whenever you see them or the cat, I'd come clean but try and remove it from the garbage and say you found it after you hit it with the ball, You didn't know it was in pain but it must have ''died days later.'' At least that way they won't think you attempted to cover up the murder of the neighbors cat which seems psychotic, Rather they'll think you harmlessly hit the cat and found it a few days later and blame yourself. That way you've got the guilt off your chest and they'll also feel sorry for you, as will the daughter.

That takes courage to tell them what happened! Though what happened was unfortunate, you handled it well.
I would've kept it to myself for years, and be probably get haunted by guilt for a lifetime.
