Colored usernames can be obtained by upgrading or by joining groups. I suggest joining the group Candy via user CP because they accept everyone in. Other groups you will have to apply for.

Most groups you have to apply for in the group request section. Although Candy lets you get in for free.

Go to your control panel, then to groups and join Candy

You would need to ask one of the owners from those groups.
Most have requirements to get in, so search for Recruitment threads

If you're accepted into a group, your username will change to the colour they have set for that group.
Assuming you use that as your primary.

Being verified is not all sunshine and farts. If you deal with an asshole and somehow it reflects on you, you could be in some serious trouble. It's a risk I was willing to take. But not everybody should get a verified status. I'd stick to working towards earning Power+ as your goal. Or becoming an Investor.
