Step 1:
Sign in on account.live.com
You need to ensure that there are no security proofs on the account that you do not own. Security proofs can be a phone number, email address, or OAS authenticator app. You can find where to edit your security proofs below:
Remember you can no longer add fake alternate emails, this means the LESS alternate emails the better. Every alternate is a way into your account, I would suggest only to use OAS authenticator apps such as a windows 8 computer since they are the most secure. Once you ensure all the security proofs on the account belong to you, you are ready for the next step.
Step 2:
Change the password and secret question.

Now that the PW and SQ have been changed once, you are ready for the next step. Head over to http://www.xbox.com once you are there click on Xbox Profile Protection which can be found in the bottom right corner. Once you are in you will need to click on Require Profile Download this will remove the xbox account from all the xbox's that it is on. This part is important because a user can see an email to an account via their xbox if you dont remove it. A picture of the location can be found below:
Step 4:
After the account has been removed from all the xbox's we are going to go back to account.live.com now its time to change the email. First click on add or change alias. Then click on rename alias. Then click on Yes, rename my primary alias. Go ahead and change the email. A WLID cannot always be changed if youre in the situation where you cant change it you should still be fine if you follow the rest of the guide, but you wont be in as good of a position.
Step 5:
Now we are going to secure the account from WLID reset forms. You will need to change the PW 5 times. This will basically 'erase' previous passwords on the account and help secure it against UAs. Also change the name, address, and date of birth, on the account on account.live.com Once this is all done you are ready for step 6.
Step 6:
Change the account region. Go to xbox.com and hit Change xbox account region in the bottom right corner. Then hit next, and on the next page pick a country and hit accept. Once you have changed the region it will remove all the billing information on your gamertag which adds another layer of security to the account.
Step 7:
Next we're going to go to billing.microsoft.com we want to do this because people can hide their credit card as a security proof in the OAS. Hit on payment options and if you see a credit card simply remove it.
Step 8:
Click on this link to check/cancel if there's been any suspicious activity with your account.

Once you've opened this link, click on "Check status of an incident". This will show you any problems that have arose with the account previous to your arrival.
If you see this once you've opened it you're all safe and should have no problems properly securing your gamertag!
After doing all of this your account should be as secure as possible. I am willing to help people out/answer questions below. I hope everyone enjoys my little tutorial, although a lot of users may know this I know a lot of users do not and I am trying to help all the newbs out!
