Here are pretty Common Ways to Make Games run faster without Upgrading your Hardware.
THEME
If your Running Windows Vista or Windows 7, You will Probably have a few Performance Issues Compared to XP,
For a pretty good reason to make games run faster its better to be in Windows 7 rather then XP Because XP Does Not Have DirectX 11
Which does make the games run faster.
But if you start a game, you get pretty much Framerate drops.
This can be from what theme you are running, if its the Aero Theme Its pretty Obvious Why your so laggy.
So this "Tutorial" is Simple
For Windows 7
- Right Click on your desktop
- Personalize
- Scroll Down
- Click any of the Classic Themes
Since your Game is Full-Screen, You dont need to have those Glossy Visuals on your desktop because you dont see it anyway.
What this Does is Free some Extra RAM For your game
PRIORITY
- Start up your game
- Tab Out and Open up the Task manager
- Go to Processes
- Find your Game
- Right Click and Set Priority
- Set Neither Above Normal, or High
- Do NOT set on REAL TIME!
I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR SYSTEM GETS UNSTABLE OR CRASHES AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BOOT UP ANYMORE! DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Gadgets
Thease tiny little Tools will take alot of Ram, i have 2 Gadgets on and it takes me 36 MB Of Ram.
And i DONT Need to use them While im playing because I Have the game on Full Screen
So Might as well Remove those too
Programs
It takes somthing like Buffer or things
Just Remove those! and always Check for SPYWARE!
Drivers
When i Updated my Drivers from 10.7 to 10.9
There was Framerate Diffrences.
So Take that in mind
Background Programs
Those Programs will take alot of RAM, When i have my Default Startup Programs on, it takes me away 74 MB RAM!
Overclocking
This is not the best idea, but if you have a Cool Room temp like 18c
Overclocking will make less heat.
What is Overclocking?
Each Card has a Base clock, lets say 850 MHz Core, and 5000 MHz Memory
and 1200 Shader(Only for nVidia Cards FYI)
You can make it Higher by a Program or a built in Driver
But Do not go too far, Because it will Fry your Video card like a volcano
So if you want to go more far, you are going to need to have Watercooling, Which will make a huge Tempature diffrences.
So it Increases Performance by a few FPS, For a HD 5870 To Go from 850 MHz to 1000 MHz it Increases Framerate by 6 Frames, It is alot for free Performance by Exchanging sum' heat!
I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF YOU FRY YOUR VIDEO CARD INTO BLITZ
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Hope this helps.
Have a nice year everyone
