How to become a moderator on a forum

Becoming a moderator on any particular forum of your current interest involves a simple and structured method. This method comes equipped with steps that require the ability of your own time consumption and hard effort. The ways in which promotion of the forum through the admins (administrators) discretion is conducted seeks daily and active involvement in the forum itself to be undergone. This involvement in the forum includes:

• Helpful and appropriate posts to the aid of the initial poster

• Daily activity (being active) in order to assist others

• Get to know your peers in the community of the forum, as if it were a reality

• Be a respectful and member pleasing poster (this usually gains kudos, or + credits to be added to your name to represent your helpful comments if a credits system is available)

This guide was written by @"RuneScape" If going to leak, atleast post credits!

You should change the title to "How to get a chance to become a moderator on forums".

This is all obvious and common sense.

DAMN! Didn't occurr to me. LOL.

It's a pretty nice guide. Though, there is probably a small chance to get moderator.

I hate to burst your bubble but this isn't entirely accurate. You see, these are your standards for finding who's best fit for the job, not everyone's. Therefore, you can't generalize that everyone that owns/runs a web-forum is looking for those particular qualities in a member, because quite frankly, you don't know.

For example, you might find yourself on a tech-forum with an owner that's only priority for his staff/mods is that they know their subject material (that they know what their doing in term of their technical work, in other words).

a mod should know the right section to post something in though. :D

This is highly inaccurate. Admin's want Moderator's who are knowledgeable on the forum base and aren't over-powered people. There not looking for people who are nice and respected by the community. Lets say we have "Bob and Bob is a really respected member but his knowledge isn't as good as "Dan" but "Dan" isn't as respected by the community". More then likely the Admin will choose "Dan" over "Bob".

Disagree with all the Haters, Nice guide <3 And True its common sense but many of the members here seem to Lack it.

Your guide is focused around posts, I would suggest maybe being mature, Coordinated, And read up on your future options before posting.

-Having friends on a forum or being active alone won't get you moderator.

Obvious things listed, but if someone cares enough about RuneGear, they won't care if they're staff or not as long as they get to help out the community.
