Hey guys,
Today I'm going to tell you how to dip dye your XBOX 360 controller, so that it is easier for you to paint than with spray paint. Some people like spray paint, some people like dye.
I am not responsible for any warps to your parts, or careless mistakes you make.
Supplies needed:
Torx T8 Security driver
Paint thinner or rubbing alchohol
A stove to boil water
A pot to put the boiling water in
A normal bowl of water
Any color Rit Dye
Paper towels to surround the boiling water wig the dye in it
A bowl to keep your screws in so you don't lose them
Step 1)
Disassemble your XBOX 360 controller. There are 7 screws, 1 behind the sticker in the battery back.
WARNING: Once you remove the sticker, you have voided your warranty. Microsoft will no longer repair that controller for you
Step 2)
Wipe down every part you are going to paint with rubbing alchohol or paint thinner. Look it up on YouTube if you want to do it very well, professionally.
Step 3)
Boil some water at about 150-200 degrees
Step 4)
Once your water is boiled to the desired temperature, pour a little bit of dye in. Depending on parts, you will pour more if you are doing all of the parts
Step 5)
Grab your tweezer
Step 6)
Find a part of the part you are going to dip that you can securely hold while you are dipping it
Step 7)
Dip the part in the dye for about 5 seconds, take it out, and put it in a normal bowl of water.
You will start to see the part's color change. For harder, more dense plastic, you may need to dip more for the color to really stand out.
You may need to dip the plastic about 30 times depending on your desired color.

Sand all parts that look glossy with 600 grit sand paper. ie: Triggers
Step 4
Spray all parts you are going to paint with a adhesive promoter so the paint will stick better.
Step 5)
Wait about 5 minutes and spray your first coat of paint very lightly
I do not recommend painting the thumbsticks using this method, use the dye method
Step 6)
Wait about 5 minutes. Spray your second coat very lightly
Keep doing this until you get the desired darkness or lightness of color.
Step 7)
Let the parts you painted dry for about 10-12 hours.
Once the parts are dry, spray a coat of clear coat over them so that the paint doesn't fade or chip.
When spraying buttons or triggers (moveable parts), Tape off all the parts will go into something or lach onto something
