How does license transfer work?

Can sum1 explain to me how license transfer work?like is it transferring DLC from a account to another or is thru console?

It does that. When you want to download dlc or a game from another account that has not been on your console, you need a license transfer to make the downloads actually work. Hope I helped

Every account that has xbox live and downloads anything is assigned a license. With that license, Xbox knows that your downloads are yours and on your xbox. Your license is owned/on your xbox. With a license for the game that you downloaded on your xbox you can play those games from any account on your xbox. With a license transfer it moves that license to another xbox. You can't play the games on any other account on the first xbox, other than the account the game was bought on. But the xbox you license transferred with can play from other accounts.
