How can you make a long distance relationship work?

We have been dating for a while, but finding time to see one another has become harder. I have no clue what to do and I am trying my best to make things work out.Things are becoming more difficult because right now he is getting ready for his second tour in africa. I know things are going to become harder for us to handle but I believe down in my heart we will make it through. He knows I'll be waiting for him, but I just need some advice on how to make the transition with everything to go smoother. Thanks for the help!
