High School is useless

High School is absolutely useless. My whole family has been through it, and they have all told me that the only subject which was of any use would have had to be Mathematics and maybe English. What people plan to do in College/University, usually High School has not prepared you for anything. I'm speaking for myself in Australia, but others overseas may feel differently.

Right now I'm writing a 3 page essay for Religion, and I see no reason as to how this would be helpful for me even if I was studying to become a Priest. Ridiculous, and definitely a waste of everyone's time. We might as well go to school and study "General Knowledge", a lot of adults lack it.

Just my 2 cents.

High School, is something a lot of people have to go through, personally, I don't like it very much. I love learning, but they make us learn things that won't help us, and that's what I really hate. I know exactly where you're coming from, and myself I can't wait to go to University.

I'm planning on graduating High School as well, but honestly, that achievement won't leave me with any satisfaction, other than the fact I'll be leaving it once and for all. I'm just going to do good, make it easier for myself to get into University, and see what happens.

Agreed
Highschool is useless They get paid to Teach us Almost nothing

They should teach kids in HighSchool to Live a general life
Things you will find in life Like stuff you will run into

Like Fixing homes
Paying Taxes
Driving
And what not

At my school the only class I actually find that I learn ANY THING from is Mechanics
Learning to build cars and How every thing works in a engine actually gets my attention and teachs me stuff

I know where your coming from TE I feel the same way

I don't know about you, but High School is helping me a shit tons with my career. I take all the advance math and english classes and take 3 hours of a programming class there.

From a American point of view high school was just something I went to for 8 hours. Kind of like a day care for teenagers.

By the way Why do you need to study to be a priest?
Well Yea you need to know about your religion but is there really a College for it?

Paying Taxes= Economics/Math
Driving= Drivers ED

Got my HSC back in 2009. I have just finished IT (Networking) at diploma level at TAFE and will probably go onto Wollongong UNI.

Nothing of what I did at school helped me develop my knowledge for Networking. Not even Information Processes Technology (IPT) helped. BUT, to do my course, I needed to have an HSC.

Plan what you want to do after school, like UNI, TAFE, etc; then go on to find the requirements of that. If you don't need it and feel it's a waste, then don't do it.

P.S. Where abouts in Aus are you TE?

I'm glad someone does, it's ridiculous at all the crap I'm learning which will never ever come back up in life.

I'm taking advanced mathematics and english, and as I said, those will only be useful. If they offered programming, I would have taken it. I'm doing Multimedia teachers, you should see my face when they tell us to make a basic HTML web-page. I'm coming first in the class of 28.

I'm learning about all religions, and I'm not becoming a priest, I was just saying that the essay I'm doing wouldn't even help a priest.

I'm in NSW, so I'm also going for an ATAR. Yeah, I also need one, I'm looking at about a 90 for Software Engineering, possibly UTS or Sydney Uni. With the subjects I'm doing at the moment, and the fact I'm coming 1st in one subject, and top 5 in 2/3 other subjects does make me glad, I should get high marks. :)

I just lol'ed at you Angelo, and also The Elite, I wish you luck for Uni.

Don't know what Kind of home you have made 100% out of wood but... yea
At my school they don't do taxes and stuff in regualar math You have to go for advanced math and Then its just a small part of that course
Drivers ED Yea

What I'm trying to get across is They need to teach every person to Have a proper Life that they can support for them self and Not need another person there to help them and what not

Like right now If I switched your spark plug wires around I bet you wouldn't know what was wrong with your car You would just call a tow truck and get a Mechanic to fix it =)

Same thing would be for Plumbing or insulating a house
Or electrical work in your house

Mathematics has A LOT to do with most programming languages.

I took a web design class sophomore year, I am a senior now, but everything we did was just like "wtf, am i in 2nd grade?". I got a 98 in the class and I didn't even do the final project.

Nice, I'm in cronulla.

Well then keep at it mate. Pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Big money in Software Engineering too. You will be glad once you finish year 12 because you will see the achievement.

Good luck!

I'd hardly say High School is useless, yes it's annoying with a whole bunch of 'useless' subjects, but it prepares you for every road ahead.

How else do you know what you're truly passionate about?

Ahh woops, I meant it'll only be USEFULL. Yes, I know, that's why I'm doing Advanced Mathematics.

I knew I was passionate about computers ever since I was 12 when I taught myself Java. If I relied on school to figure out what I was passionate about, I would have told myself accounting. Thank God for my personal endeavor to figure out my passion.
