Although many of people who are going to read this thread already know the basics on maintaining a secure Xbox Live Account I am still going to run through them for the very few that don't.
This is only going to be a brief guide but hopefully an informative one.

In order to keep your Xbox live Account safe you should change your password often and don't use the same password on other websites. If you use your password on other websites you could put your Xbox Live Account at risk. If a "hacker" manages to some how obtain your password or passwords on other websites they may be able to link it to your gamertag and therefore take your account.
You will be alot safer if you change your Xbox Live password on your Xbox 360 Console as the data can not be logged by unwanted programs.

You should not use your personal email for your Xbox Live Account, I recommend using a completely new email which only you know. So long as you remember the email and password or keep them in a safe place you should be fine. Do not save your information onto your computer unless you know that it is secure.
If you think that someone else knows your password and details then you will need to change the details immediately. Changing your password may not always solve this case. You may happen to have a keylogger on your computer which will need to be removed immediately. If this is the case then you will need to either ask someone in the Hack Forums Community to guide you through the process of removing a keylogger or run the process yourself. Never accept or download files from someone you don't know as they could put your computer at risk.
If you do happen to have a keylogger on your computer then do not input anymore details into your computer, as long as you are still connected to the internet the keylogger will still be working. If you need to change your details then do it on a different computer which you know is secure.

Many of people will try and lure you onto a site that they say will give you free Microsoft Points if you use your login details for your Xbox Live Account. This is 100% untrue. These sites are phishers, if you think that a site looks suspicious in anyway, then more than likely it is a phishing website or a scam. You can report websites which look suspicious to Microsoft. I'm not saying that they will take the site down there and then but it will still help others in the future and stop them logging in to this "Free Microsoft Points" website.
