Free Internet for as long as you live

Here's how to do it. No strings attached and no loopholes. Straight forward. This ISP will literally give you free internet service (5mbps) and unlimited bandwidth for as long as you choose to stay with them under the condition that you refer 10 customers to them and have them stay for at least 30 days.

Here are the details. http://www.acanac.ca/Referral-Program.html

I was considering having 10 of my friends sign-up for me and after a month, if they like it, wonderful, if not, attempt to wiggle out of the 1 year contract with a shitty excuse. I know its possible because I did it 2 years ago when I was with them, before this new referral program was there. The reason I left was because of the piss poor speed. It's actually not that bad but for Xbox LIVE it absolutely BLOWS.

Either way, it would be a dream come true if this happened for me considering I pay for bandwidth and there are no ISP's in Canada that offer unlimited service anymore. Bummer!

What do you guys think? Should I go for it? And at the same time, do you know if there's a way around my current ISP's bandwidth limit? Perhaps a way I can download as much as I want for free? After all, you guys are smart, arent you? :)

Post a referral link, I'll help you. :).

1. I'd need 10 to get the service for free.
2. I haven't decided whether I'd like to change ISP yet because of Acanac's poor speed.
3. Were you suddenly willing to change your ISP in a heartbeat for me?

Sounds like some spam thingy or they want your information.

It made the news. It's not a phising scam.

The online campaign that put huge political pressure on the CRTC decision has its roots in June of 2007, when Steve Anderson started OpenMedia.ca after being involved in the so-called “net neutrality” debate in the United States. The debate quickly bubbled north.

Mr. Anderson, who wanted to work as an online video producer and was concerned about the regulatory state of Canada’s Internet, started a splinter website called SaveOurNet.ca, which still devotes itself to net neutrality issues – which is, broadly, the idea that all Internet traffic should be treated equally.

After the original CRTC decision on usage-based billing and an appeals process, OpenMedia began circulating a “StopTheMeter” petition in late October, 2010. There was an obvious lull over Christmas – when Mr. Anderson says he was surfing in Australia – but it picked up serious momentum after the final decision last week, and has grown from tens of thousands to around 300,000, with 30,000 signing just on Tuesday – the day after Mr. Clement said he would reexamine the decision.

“The campaign itself is demonstrating why this issue is so important. A lot of people are making videos now. Would they do this if they had to pay five times as much? Probably not,” Mr. Anderson said. “It’s looking like we might win this one.”

Also, the ISP that I'm talking about in this thread offers only 5Mbps so before I take the plunge, I would like to know if there exists some sort of speed-simulator where I can see how it feels to surf and download at a predesignated speed below my own. I don't know if my ISP would do that for me and if so, how would I ask them? 'Can you leave it at 5Mbps for a couple of hours?'

Edit: I need advice from someone that has 5Mbps internet. I'm about to downgrade from 10Mbps just so I can have unlimited bandwidth.

Is it recommend? Can you still surf pleasantly with that speed?

No i think you need to buy 2 internet services then

10 friends to do it for you is a lot considering all the work needed to sign up and everything.

Ugh, this is hard getting 10 people, and the speed blows...
IDK...

Wow. That's pretty cool. Too bad I can't get it.

oo nice, it would be awesome with better speed though :p

Regeardless of speed, I would gladly sign up to it if it was in my area.

Really?
I'm getting 10Mbps right now and would do it if it were a bit faster.

speed blows no way anyone would do this unless there was a community of people to help each other out

You'd be surprised how many people have worse internet speeds that what this ISP offers and therefore would consider subscribing in a heart-beat.
