This is directed at people using fluxbox. It's an extremely lightweight DE for those of you who don't know. I don't use it anymore because we didn't get along well :p

I've been having trouble with this for some time now, and I always like to share after finding new things out about fluxbox and X sound control.

All the tutorials across the internet say mod4mod1control blah blah, if you use FN Keys, you clearly don't want to use alt or windows key.

Anyway open nautilus or whatever file manager you use

Show hidden files (usually control + H)

Go to .fluxbox

Open 'keys'

Add the following lines whereever you choose to do so in keys.

XF86AudioRaiseVolume :Exec amixer set Master 5%+
XF86AudioLowerVolume :Exec amixer set Master 5%-

I forget how to do the mute/unmute, and though this might be obvious, took me some time, might take others some time
