That site is outdated with the rares/common thing as that changes all the time.

It's purely to see what the eggs will look like when they mature.

But do people DO anything with them?

Example: Trading cards. You collect them, but the purpose of collecting them is usually to kick someone's ass by battling with them. =P

Not really, they're like collectable antique cars, you can get tons of them, but you can't make them do shit.

I have a Gold and a Magma, two of rarest.
 
Got more inventory today, going to update stock in the morning.
