They do exist, you just can't create them anymore. Skype put in the 6 character minimum in 2007 or 2008, maybe even 2009, I can't remember. This is why you still see some Skypes under 6 characters.

Almost all skypes under 6 letters are owned by workers for skype.

I believe there is one person who has all 4 of the remaining existing unrestricted 2 char skypes. Someone told me this don't quote me.
