how do you get the designs on your username?

The colors? For the somewhat little animation you need to upgrade, for just a color like the red or yellow ones, join a group.

You can get a custom username color if you upgrade, for more information about that, click here. If you aren't too keen on upgrading which I strongly suggest you do, you can join a group. We have a certain section called "Group Requests", it's full of groups that are looking for members, you can make an application and if you get accepted you will be able to have a custom username color.
