How would you describe color to a blind person?

Try to describe the color, Purple.

I would do so like the following.

Purple is the color of the soft blanket you were wrapped in while you were young.
Purple is the sky, in the evening, after a peaceful rain has come through.
Purple is the gentle love you shown while you were a baby.
Purple is the color of the angel that watched over you.
Purple is the gentle mist you walk into with your love.
Purple is the color of peace.
Purple is love.

And you would have lied so bad. *Facepalm*

I honestly wouldn't try to explain a specific color to a blind person. First, because it must be incredibly hard. And second, because they most likely won't understand it.

I also believe colors are subjective. There was a thread I made about that, but oh well. Going to re-post it. :)

I'll use red for my example.
Red is a 700–635 nm portion on the light spectrum of visible light. The redness of this frequency doesn't exist, the frequencies do, but all they do is hit specific cells in our retina, which then fire electric impulses. Your brain then 'creates' the red based on the info being received. We (humans) have 3 cell types, each responding to a narrow range of light frequency, some animals and insects have 4 and 5, they can see UV and IR. So you're ocular cells are perceiving a specific range of frequencies.

I was thinking of creativity, not scientific facts.

Because, you used the word "you" for most phrases. Purple may mean all that for you, but not for that person. As I said, it's subjective.

So then, in my case and within my perception, they'd all be false.

This doesn't mean I don't appreciate your creativity, because those were nice characteristics you gave the color, and it'd make their imagination run. Most likely making them happy.
