Hey guys so I just wanted to ask the forum members one question, is anyone here a boyscout?

Personally, I grew up as a cub scout with my dad being my troop leader up until 6th grade, word got out that I was one and I was tormented horribly. I was traumatized for being made fun of and asked my dad if I could quit.

This crushed him. My dad always wanted to be a boyscout when he grew up but he said his dad was never around for him. Back in 6th grade. when I was about 12 years old, I didn't realize how much that decision of mine would affect him.

The last 3 months I have thought so hard about this topic and realized one key thing, I do everything scouts do. I go fishing all the time, along with hunting as well. I would go camping more but I live in the city and I am always busy with work + school.

Last week I nutted up and talked to him about it, he said it is up to me (he is super cool about everything :p) and he would love to get back into it with me (He was my troop leader when I was in cubscouts). I told him I would love to join back and I could give a shit about what people think of me (I am in 10th grade now). Being and Eagle Scout is great on your record and can help you tremendously in life. I have made up my mind and I will be a boyscout for the rest of my life. The motto goes without saying, "Once a scout, always a scout." :p

Anyways, this is just a little story about me  that I thought I would share. Are any members here a boy scout? Or even an Eagle Scout (the highest rank of a boy scout).

Cubscouts was shit. I hated it. Quit in 3rd grade.

I'm actually a Boy Scout. I earned my Eagle and all that. I went literally from Tiger at age 6 going up to earning my Eagle a year ago. Eagle really does help later on in life, and I encourage you, if it's not too late to go for it. Even if you are 18, just go to venture mascots and you get 3 more years. You'll regret leaving. Sorry to hear about the teasing.

Damn. Why was this? I loved it, because I got to spend a ton of time with my dad.

I would probably kill myself if my parents made me become a boy scout.

I used to be in the Cub Scouts but left around 3rd grade cause I rather of played soccer, I no longer play soccer.

Why is this man? I know we have a bad rep of being flamers and what not but it is a ton of fun and if you get a couple of close friends to join with you then it is awesome!

If you gave it a chance maybe you'd like it :3

Seriously guys, Cub scouts might not be the best thing, but it's a learning experience. Most kids don't get to do a lot of the stuff BOY scouts do. How many times are you gonna go to Philmont Ranch and hike 100 miles in 14 days? Oh wait, never because it's a Boy-Scout only ranch. How many times are you going to get to go to a World Jamboree in a different country along with all your peers and have fun ziplining and such? Oh wait, never because it's for Boy-Scouts only. The BSA ain't all just stupid apparel and crappy rules.

I couldn't agree with this more man :p

If you are going to bash something and exaggerate something do far were you are saying you would kys if you joined the BSA, you can atleast be mature and list the good and the bad.

It doesn't have anything to do with that. I would never want to be put in a uniform to go and hangout with a bunch of kids and their dads whilst earning badges and developing "survival skills". It's not for me, and never will be.

Then you could've said that then say "is kms if I had to join boyscouts".

Well, not exactly. I probably would kill myself.
I highly doubt that. I think you'd just deal with it and drop out as soon as possible.

I was an unstable child. I tried to kill myself multiple times. The boy scouts would've sent me over the edge.

If that is true fine, but it's hard to tell due to the amount of sarcasm in society today.
