Battlefield 3 just might have one more trick up its sleeve in the competition for sales this fall with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. EA who has made no secret of it’s intent to dethrone the biggest name in gaming, has developed Battlefield 3 specifically to do just this. Now that the line in the sand is drawn by Activision, who recently announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be releasing on November 8th. The next we’ll hear from either Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3 is at this years E3. Part of the agressive marketing plans of the Electronic Arts for Battlefield 3, will be a big reveal at E3 2011. The company has said to have been holding out on showing any more from Battlefield 3 until E3, where they will be “debuting new gameplay”, an EA spokesperson told Industry Gamers. “With all our marketing/PR campaigns for all of our titles, we do look at competitors and the overall market but this is one of many factors that affect when we do and do not show/announce new gameplay/ship date/game features/etc.” No release date has been set for Battlefield 3, which is likely to be announced at E3 2011.

I have just recently gotten into the BF series. I got COD: BO and BF:BC 2 (latest games in both series) and I think I like BF:BC 2 better, but they are both great games. I'm really gonna look forward to both games coming out in Q4 of this year and I'll definitely be keeping up with E3.

Battlefield was never built in the intentiont to kill COD. Battlefield 2142 and Battlefield BC2 both killed their Call of Duty rivals in every area but sales number and this will be no different. Battlefield 3 requires most likely a highmid to Highend gaming machine, Call of Duty can even run smoothly on a lowmid gaming machine hence the customer base is so much larger.

However gameplay between the two differs quite a bit so if you get tired of Battlefield then migrating to Call of Duty could be an option.

I don't believe that, EA has directly commented on the topic:
EA Games president Frank Gibeau laid down the gauntlet last night at an EA earnings call. Gibeau compared Battlefield 3 to Call of Duty, saying “We have the superior game engine, superior development studio and a flat out superior game.” He went on to confirm that we’ll be seeing much more Battlefield 3 at E3 this year

Of course they are touting that they will crush COD. But that is not their main focus. Remmember when Call of Duty Black Ops was released?. It got biased reviews and were often given nearly the highest mark though it didn't deserve it at all?. EA is doing this simply for medi attention, do you realise how much free advertising saying they will facerape COD grants them?

BF3 has the upper hand in every aspect than CoD. CoD has no chance what so ever bit the campaign. Since CoD can't compete at all with anything else with BF3, it's all up to both campaigns to see which is the best.

Campaign in Bad Company was simply amazing. The graphics and missions were so realistic, compared to COD where you get hit, hide in a bush and 3 seconds alter you are regenerated :).

However I wouldn't be surprised if COD had a better story within the compaign however Battlefield had it better executed. Though both games give an amazing online gameplay experience which is what matters the most to me. I will buy both and play both :)

Battlefield3 isn't related to bad company in anyway. It's the sequal to BF2 so a whole new story mode.

It is related to Bad Company 2 in many ways my friend. Both games is graphically intensive however BF3 runs the newer version of Frostbite. Storyline might differ but COD IMHO has always had a better executed story however the actual missions on BF has for me personally been better on Battlefield as it involves more combat..

I'm talking about the story line. No relation between BF3 and BFBC. Plus, the whole engine is remade so technically, not much relation there since Frostbite 2 has been upgraded in every little aspect.

Frostbite 2 isn't as rewritten as you lay it out to be. It is extremely optimized like with say anti viruses, version 10 and 11 might be vastly different but the code underneath is the same though vastly optimized and improved upon.

Also I understand that the storyline has no relations, however Battlefield strong side has never been the storyline IMHO, though I barely follow the sotry and rather go for the action <3

BF series is online only. Their first campaign game was BFBC. The code might be the same in some areas but in most, it's all rewritten as they said.

I doubt they coded a new engine from basis. Even you should understand that is the same engine running with optimized code. Of course the code is rewritten, but the base code is still the same.

That is how it works with software though, nothing is never really completely rewritten, you keep the good old code, and improve where you can, trash the shitty code and put in some new. A lot of the enhancement has also come due to faster GPU's

i want this game soooo bad. but i would only play the campaign because multiplayer i would prolly rate it a 5/10
