I started living independently when I was 23 yrs old. I had my own pad and I spent my own money. It was not really cool at first since I was used to having a maid at home. But after quite some time I got used to it and I enjoyed it. After two years I decided to come home. It was so hard for me to adjust since my mom always ask me what time am I going home and all those stuff. So I decided to live again on my own until now. Being independent takes a lot of guts and perseverance. You have to stay focused and strong to do things on your own.

I have never been completely independent but in a way I want to be. I am the type of person who feels she must take care of someone. I guess I'd rather be independent but have others depend on me in some ways, small ways if nothing else.

Being independent is easy. That comes when you don't have any other choice but to rely on yourself. It is a state of mind being developed naturally or developed by the urgency in the environment that you need to survive and in order to make things better for yourself. The goal is also one of the factors and your eagerness and drive to do it will gives you a boost to make it more. Some people seems dependent because they know that somebody else will catch them when they fall and will support them, but when the time comes there's no one else to help you, it's your own instinct and defense mechanism to rely in yourself and no one else.

It's just the same that you are doing your normal life, only some adjustment is like you get matured in an early age and knows the essence of responsibility. You will learn how to value the worth of pennies and analyze things over whether it is a necessity or not. Your goal is more firm and your perseverance can take you longer. You can handle things easier and deal with every short comings with an instant solution coming from your own idea. You treat everyday life as a challenge to win in order to survive.
