Asteroids.

Do you believe in 30,000 feet wide asteroids being able to wipe out the planet in one hit?

I have seen articles on the googles about this and in all honesty, I don't.

what are your views on this? and how would you think the Earth would stop a asteroid this large from hitting the planet?

It's possible.
The scary thing is that I read NASA are going to grab an asteroid and bring it into our orbit?

If they do that, they'll be doing it for scientific purposes. Obviously they wouldn't allow it to be anywhere close to the earth. It'd be way too dangerous.

Oh yes, it'll be for the purposes of science, but there's a chance it could all go wrong.

They may have a backup plan like: Disintegrate the whole thing if it moves out of position. You never know man. They'd make sure everything is safe before they do such a thing.

I'm sure they will. I'm just really interested to see if it happens. It'll be one of those once in a life-time things I'm sure.

If only our ozone layer was able to withstand a lot more things hitting the earth, I'm sure the asteroid would just bounce off if we took care of the planet. But then again, we never know what may happen.. We never see asteroids hitting the earth so we wouldn't even know about it.

Wouldn't it be weird if we could see EVERYTHING in space from the earth?

I know what you mean.
Like a glass-bottom-boat?
Would be absolutely amazing man.

I've seen some of the images that are sent back to NASA and they just leave me in amazement every time without fail.

I'd love to experience being on another planet or dimension for a day. And yes, that is exactly what I mean. It's insanely amazing with the solar system and the amount of progress this planet has made within the birth of the big blue ball. (not religious)

You know that NASA are sending people to Mars right?

I'm pretty sure the applications have now closed, but that would have been pretty good to get on that.

Although it's one way.

Whoever gets to go is lucky as fuck. They get to start life on Mars ;-;

That's assuming all goes well.
I swear there is a girl from the UK going and she's leaving her boyfriend/partner behind.

She says Mars is more important.

I'd request my loved one to go with me, I don't know what kind of drugs she is on LOL

I would say it depends entirely on the composition of the asteroid, how fast its traveling, and how it hits. If it's a solid chunk of gold, for example, moving at mach 12, and hits the planet squarely, yeah I could see that happening.

Yes. If fast enough a lot of things can wipe the planet out.
Enough power can crack the earth in half.

it'd be a little insane on how we could be wiped out without knowing..

Depend of the speed of what the asteroids hit us at. Because most likely, they will shatter into smaller pieces and not be as big.

Yes, many things can kill us straight away. Life is mysterious, a possible black hole could even be made next to our earth.

But the chances of a Meteor of such size colliding with is like a 1/10000000000000000000 chance.
but again that 0.00000000000000000000000000001 is what matters!

Bumping, I'd like to see more opinions on asteroids.
