Well, over the last few days RG has been the subject of attacks from ex-members of Rune Gear. They frankly believe that their minimal attacks are something which will deter me from running this website as I did since the beginning. It's quite interesting where these attacks are coming from, and who's commanding these attacks. They're Rune Gear members, who in all honesty, could not comply with the rules, defied numerous laws of their governing countries (such as stealing money) and run botnets even though they're meant to be 'responsible' adults.
This case is more than a forum being attacked, it's actually a life being wasted. Rune Gear going down is something of a pathetic nature, but what's more pathetic are the people that are wasting their life to attempt to stop someone from their hobby. Instead of growing up, being employed, enjoying a healthy social life and maybe, just maybe, attempting to finish their education or even start a family, considering some are in their early-mid twenties, they input all their effort into taking something so trivial down. They don't benefit whatsoever from taking a site down, instead put themselves in risk of further punishment. Most of the people commanding these attacks aren't the smartest peas, they usually leave a major trail. If someone was to put a tiny bit of effort into tracking them down, they'd easily be caught and punished. With their attack on Rune Gear, thus being an attack on a datacenter and therefore a company/organisation, they're putting themselves at an increased risk.
I don't have any anger faced towards the attackers, some I can even say, I thought we had mutual respect towards each other. Instead, they decide to commit cyber-vandalism and spead their 'group' name. This has happened countless times before, with one being a 6gbit/s attack, and will definitely happen in the near future. Every website receives attacks, and that's how the internet works. You have those who put effort into providing people with a free service, and those who have a psychopathic tendency. Those with the latter are people who lack remorse, and quite clearly, cannot stand someone else succeeding.
In conclusion, those who are attacking are not bad people, they're just small people. We all learn one time or another, so we must be patient. I'll keep RG up, while they strive day in and day out to take us down, without any benefit on their behalf.
